Moodle Sandbox (examples)
This section contains examples in Moodle that you might want to use in your class.
You can add a variety of files to moodle for students to use. These can be any file type. In this example I added a reading.
URL allows you to link to an outside resource. In this example, the link takes you to the Hampshire College webpage. You could link to resources to read, etc.
The Feedback activity can be used to survey students about topics. It can be anonymous or you can record student names. This could be used as a weekly check in, at the end of a class (like a minute paper).
I have set this poll up to be anonymous.
The Assignment activity can be used in a variety of ways. This can be used for homework assignments that you want students to submit. You can set the due date, open and close dates, etc.
You may include links to assignment instructions (for example on a google doc), attach a pdf with instructions, or list the instructions in the description box.
You have the option of having students upload files or complete the assignment online.
For example, you could use this to solicit reading responses. A pdf could be attached with the reading, and the questions posted in the description. Students could then either submit their answers online directly in moodle, or upload a file with their answers.
Mock Assignment - for this assignment I will ask you to list any questions you have about the assignment activity in Moodle. Please submit your answers online.

Accessibility and Equity
All instructional materials that you create or use to supplement instruction must be accessible.
Using tools they may already have, professors can make learning more accessible to students with disabilities and learning differences.

Self-Paced Courses and Toolkits
This self-paced course is offered to us through MHC Teaching and Learning Initiative. Go to moodle.mtholyoke.edu. Log in via Hampshire and use the password <facdev>
This is a free set of resources from ACUE.
Four week self-paced course on using "Resilient Pedagogy." Introduction to resilient pedagogy as a topic and practical work to incorporate resiliency into your own courses.
This Google Doc contains lists of resources - feel free to add and/or to rate the items here.
One particularly helpful thing on this site (if you scroll down) is a list of resources by question. For example,
- How do I transfer seminar-style teaching practices into an online environment?
- How do I create and maintain a sense of community in my online course?
- How do I keep students engaged when they are not gathering each week?
- How do I use writing for remote learning?
- How do I deliver an engaging online session?
