Adding Links to Files in your Course Outline

These instructions are for adding a link to a file within text; if you want to add a file to your main Moodle page, see these instructions instead.

  1. In the text editor, highlight the words you'd like to become a link.

  2. Click the Insert/Edit Link button.

  3. Click the Browse icon.

  4. Upload your file, or use one of the links at left to add it from your Private Files, a Course files folder, Google Docs, etc.

  5. Click Insert.

  6. You'll have a link to your file.

Managing Already Linked-to Files

Click the Embedded Files Repository. You'll see a list of files linked to from this section. You can download them en masse or delete unused files. This section is handy if you accidentally delete the text that was linking to a file- the file will still be saved here!

To link TO a file in the Embedded Files Repository (for example, if you DID delete the text that was linked to it but want to re-link to the file):

Follow the steps above to create a link.

In this screen, click Embedded Files repository and choose your file.

If you plan on linking to multiple files in this text section, you can save yourself sometime by uploading them together. 

  

To add multiple files

  1. Click Embedded Files Repository button.
  2. Select multiple files on your computer and drag them in, or drag in a .zip file. Click the file to unzip it.
  3. Be aware there is not a good progress bar and you will just need to give it a minute for a large upload to finish.
