Description: Do you dread public speaking and want a supportive environment in which to grow your courage? Do you enjoy public speaking and want to push yourself further in honing your craft? In this interactive workshop, students will discover both practical strategies for and new ways of thinking about powerful public speech. Through discussion and activities, students will have the opportunity to increase their confidence and cultivate their own unique voices. Whether anticipating a Div III showcase presentation, an oral report for class, a formal talk in the community, or any other public speaking moment, students will be guided in developing purposeful, effective practices. Working from a philosophy that there is no one-size-fits-all method for all to adopt, the instructor will offer students possibilities for crafting their own styles of speaking-styles that account for individual identities, goals, and contexts.
