Description: This course is designed for students with no background in Spanish and covers the same material in a regular semester course. This is an intensive course and meets every day, including lunch and dinner with classmates and instructors in the Dining Commons. This class is taught almost entirely in Spanish. Students are introduced to basic grammatical structures (including past, present, and future tenses) and by the end of the semester are able to communicate in verbal and written forms about personal information, daily activities, future plans, and past experiences. This class focuses on speaking and using Spanish with a strong cultural component. Topics of study are based on assignments from the course textbook, current and global events, and the students' experiences. Attendance and classroom participation count for 50 percent of the requirement for credit.
