Description: This course will examine some of the most influential research in the field of social psychology. Social psychology may best be defined as the scientific study of how people's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are affected by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others. In this course, we will be examining research on conformity, persuasion, obedience, attraction, aggression, prejudice, and others. A main focus of this course will be to gain a better understanding of some of the research methods used in social psychology. Most class assignments will therefore be to design and write reports on small experiments conducted in and outside of class. There will also be a short final paper due at the end of the semester.
